Chapter Ten

While at school, I notice that I’ve started bleeding. I know it can’t be my period because it just ended about a week ago.

I place a panty liner on, disregard it, and leave the school’s bathroom hoping it will go away. I’ve heard before about girl’s cherries being popped and after having sex the first time they will bleed a little bit here and there. I figure that’s what’s happening.

“Moonie there you go. I heard you wanted to speak to me yesterday. I’m sorry I wasn’t here; I had an emergency. What did you want to talk to me about honey?” Mrs. Huggins asks.

Glancing up I open my mouth, but no words escape my lips. The thought of what could happen to Nyque creeps across my mind. The thought of leaving her makes me wonder if Elli will harm Nyque. Will he touch her like he touched me last night or maybe worse?

“Oh nothing, I just wanted to say hi.” I smile brightly hoping she will change the subject.

Mrs. Huggins looks at me sideways. I can tell she knows something isn’t right. “Are you sure that’s all you wanted Moonie?”

“Yes, that’s all Mrs. Huggins. I’m sorry you worried for nothing.”

“Oh, okay Moonie. How do you like it at Ms. Carmen’s?”

Frowning as that devil’s name is mentioned I smile quickly playing it off. “I like it,” I lie and it hurts my tongue.

“Okay good. If you have any problems please let me know okay honey.”

Nodding my head, I step away and walk to my class.

I escape and leave school early and walk over to Applebee’s where my sister Suki once worked. Entering and scanning the restaurant, I see my target. I walk past the host swaying from left to right towards him. “Daft can we talk?” I ask catching Suki’s old boss off guard as he turns around and sees my moon like eyes staring back at him. I bat my eyes hoping he isn’t on the same bullshit as he was before.

“Come in my office,” he orders leading the way.

In his office, he closes the door. “How may I help you?” he asks walking to the other side of his desk and taking a seat while I stay standing in front of his desk.

“Daft if you know where my sister is at can you please tell me? Or at least tell me if she is dead or alive?” I always wonder in the back of my head about my sister. I’d rather hear that my sister is dead than to hear that she left Zain and me to deal with life alone.

Daft folds his hand on his desk while taking a deep breath. “Suki is alive,” he says.

I nearly lose my balance as my knees buckle below me I inhale feeling my chest rising up and down faster than normal. Letting out a deep sigh, out of breath I ask, “What? Where is she?”

“You don’t need to know all of that; your sister is being taken care of. That’s all you need to know.
